According to a press release issued by the City of Miami Springs, an employee at the Miami Springs Building Department tested positive for COVID-19.  The employee is reportedly fine and showing no symptoms.

Nevertheless, since the building department has been operating out of the Rec Center, the Rec Center will be closed to public access until all testing protocols and sanitization has been completed.

The infected employee was ordered to self quarantine for 2 weeks.  The city is also providing every employee within the Rec Center an on-site test for COVID-19 active infection.

This is the 2nd city employee to be confirmed to have contracted the virus.  Earlier this month, Theo Karantsalis reported on a Public Works employee who had tested positive.
