The curve in the State of Florida has improved, but we all need to continue to social distance, wash our hands, and wear masks in public.

FLORIDA VS OTHER STATES

Florida ranks #8 in total number of Coronavirus cases, but Florida has the lowest mortality rate at just 3%.  Compare that to Michigan that has slightly more cases, but 3 times as many fatalities. Of course, nothing compares to New York state with over a quarter million cases and nearly 15,000 fatalities.  Obviously, New York City’s dense housing and subway systems have most likely been an aggravating factor.

MIAMI-DADE

Miami-Dade has over 10,000 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus.  We’ve had over 1,000 hospitalizations within the County or a 10% hospitalization rate.  The fatality rate in the County is at 2.4%.  Compare that to Florida’s 3.2% or Michigan’s 8%.

LOCAL AREA

There are now 84 cases of the Coronavirus within our zip code, 33166. Miami Springs represents 55% of the population within our zip code.  That doesn’t necessarily mean we have 55% of the cases.  We may have more.  We may have less.  But statistically (and based on evidence we’re hearing from our residents) Miami Springs has a decent portion of the 84 cases within our zip code.  Nevertheless, we need to treat everyone as if they have the Coronavirus and practice social distancing, wear masks in public, and wash our hands frequently for a minimum of 20 seconds each time.
