TASTE OF THE SPRINGS THIS SUNDAY: FEB 8TH!

Not one but TWO international stars will add to the excitement of this year`s Mardi Gras-themed “Taste of the Springs”, Sunday, Feb, 8th at the Miami Springs Country Club….one culinary and one musical.

Executive Chef Eduardo Franco, chef and owner of one of the top restaurants in Caracas, Venezuela and host of a popular Venezuelan TV cooking show, SABOR Y SAZON, will be this year`s Distinguished Guest Chef. Chef Franco is Executive Chef for the EB Hotel Group and, with his humor and mischievousness, gave practical and tasty recipes to the Venezuelan foodies on his weekly show.

As if that were not enough, to take the Chamber`s “Mardi Gras” theme to the ultimate, our own international Musician Extraordinaire, Joe Donato, will bring us all to the heart of New Orleans at the after-party, playing all “La musique de Quartier Français” from 7:30pm. Joe has performed across the globe, on thousands of stages, with hundreds of stars including Cher, Roberta Flack, Art Blakey, Arturo Sandoval, Ira Sullivan, Sammy Davis Jr., Dizzy Gillespie, Carmen McCrae, Pacquito de Rivera, Faye Dunaway and Doc Severinson.

“The event this year will benefit Mu Alpha Theta, Miami Springs Senior High`s award-winning and nationally-recognized (9th in the nation!) math club”, said Chamber President Jim Borgmann. “Besides the numerous local and regional competitions for which they must pay their own expenses, their national competition is in Salt Lake City, Utah this year….that`s expensive airfare. We hope to be able to add to their travel funds with profits from this event.”

The “Taste” will be from 4pm – 7pm, and restaurants from the Miami Springs/Doral area will be featured, along with YaYa Wines and Cheesecake, Etc.. The After-Party runs from 7pm to 9pm. A cash bar will be available from 4pm to 9pm for adult beverages.

Tickets for the event are $25 (all ages, inclu. a soft drink or bottled water) and may be purchased at Johnny`s Soda Fountain (45 Curtiss Parkway), from any Mu Alpha Theta Member, by calling 305-508-8080 or emailing msaacc@live.com. If you wish to just attend the after-party, tickets are $10. Tickets for the Taste are limited and will only be sold at the door if any remain on the event day.
