We had 95 new cases within our zip code last week putting the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic at over 5,000 cases within our zip code.  In Miami Springs, we estimate we had 95 new cases last week putting the total at 2,752 since the start of the pandemic.

MIAMI-DADE COVID-19 CASES

We had 8,203 new cases of COVID-19 in Miami-Dade County last week.  That puts the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic at 434,352.

Miami-Dade saw a decrease in hospitalizations last week with 209 new hospitalizations.  Let’s see if we can get this under 200 this week.

Miami-Dade also saw a decrease in COVID fatalities with just 74 fatalities.  That’s the lowest number since the last week of 2020.

FLORIDA COVID CASES

Statewide, we had 35,240 new cases of COVID-19 last week.  That puts us at over 2,000,000 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Fortunately, Florida fatalities continued to drop.  We had 540 COVID fatalities last week.  That’s the lowest number since November.  The Florida COVID-19 fatality rate stands at 1.7%.

Folks, we need to continue to wear a mask to protect each other in public.  If you have not yet been vaccinated, try to get the vaccine as soon as possible.  As more and more people get the vaccine, we will reach herd immunity and put COVID-19 behind us and, God willing, get back to normal life full of hugs and human connections.

God bless you all and stay safe.
