Former Miami Springs Mayor, John Cavalier, Jr. passed away on August 30th.  John Cavalier, Jr. was a Real Estate professional and local businessman who served as Mayor of Miami Springs in the 80s and served again in the late 90s.

John Cavalier, Jr. Miami Springs Mayor

John Cavalier, Jr followed in his father’s (John Cavalier Sr) footsteps who also served as Mayor of Miami Springs.

Cavalier Jr. was known for being a fair and honest mayor.  During his tenure, he replaced the controversial fountains on the Circle with our current Gazebo.

John was always easy to talk to and had a calm demeanor.  In my personal interactions with the mayor in the 90s, he always had time to listen.  He was very kind and honest.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Joan, his family, and all of the people who loved and admired him.

The City of Miami Springs flew the American flag at half mast to mourn the passing of John Cavalier and retired Lt. Steve Carlisle (who also passed away this week).

Here’s what others had to say about John Cavalier, Jr:

I would like to thank you for the patience that you had with Frank because I know he was in your office all the time.He thought the world of you and Will be happy to see you
Fly high with the angels now.And may you forever rest in peace.
