New cases within our zip code increased by 128 new cases.  Within Miami Springs, we estimate about 1,275 total cases of the Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.  We also estimate we had approximately 70 new cases within the last 7 days.

MIAMI-DADE CASES

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Miami-Dade County increased by 10,553 cases.  That’s the highest number we’ve seen since August, but still below the highs of July.

New hospitalizations remain flat in Miami-Dade County with 87 new hospitalizations last week.  We are encouraged that hospitalizations are not seeing an increase despite the overall increase in COVID-19 cases.

Looking at Miami-Dade COVID-19 fatalities, we did see an increase last week, but it still remains relatively low.   Miami-Dade lost 44 souls last week due to the virus according to the Florida Department of Health.  Of course, that’s 44 too many, but still below the summer high of nearly 300 weekly fatalities.

FLORIDA CASES

The State of Florida actually saw a slight decrease in new cases compared to the prior week with over 46,000 cases last week.  That remains relatively high, but we’re happy to see that the number did not continue to climb as it did during the summer.

Florida lost 412 people to the Coronavirus last week.  A sobering number, but still below the peek of 1,400 fatalities in a week.  Florida has now lost nearly 18,000 people to the virus since the start of the pandemic.
