Miami Springs is known as a quiet and peaceful community with low crime. It`s a sleepy bedroom community.

We have an amazing police force with an incredible response time. Call them and they`re at your home in less than 5 minutes.

Now, Miami Springs has never been immune to crime. There is crime in every community. There are domestic issues like we had this past Tuesday. There are the common vehicular burglaries where they try to steal valuables from inside your car.

However, a recent string of burglaries on Wren Avenue have put some neighbors on edge. While not unprecedented to have a couple of cars broken into in nearby proximity, it is unusual to have multiple homes ransacked on the same street.

Here`s a list of incidents over the last 2 weeks on Wren Avenue:

May 3th, 2014 (9am)
Residential Burglary
611 Wren Avenue
Home is ransacked.

May 8th, 2014 (9am)

May 9th, 2014 (12:00am)

The Miami Springs Police are always on patrol, but they can`t be at every location 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That`s why it`s important to call police if you see anything suspicious. The Miami Springs Police will respond. The faster you call, the faster they`ll get there.

Here are some tips to protect your home and property:

Lock your doors. Seems simple, but not everybody does it.

Don`t leave valuables in your car.

Add an alarm system to your home and/or car. Burglars don`t want the attention.

Add a surveillance system to your home. Criminals don`t want to get caught on camera. The cameras alone will deter some thieves. More importantly, video evidence can be priceless in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators.

MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL: If you see something in Miami Springs, don`t call 911. Call Miami Springs Police directly at 305.888.9711. You`ll reach the Miami Springs Police dispatch and get much faster response times.

NOTE: Nobody was hurt in the incidents listed above.
