Miami Springs Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a garbage truck fire mid-day Saturday at Miami Springs Public Works. The fire created a bit of a stench nearby, but fortunately Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue stayed on scene to ensure the fire stayed out.
In response, Miami Springs Police closed off the area surrounding Public Works including North Royal Poinciana Boulevard.
Fortunately, the quick response minimized any potential spread of the fire. Public Works has a fuel station on premise. And next to Public Works is the gas station and propane refilling station. Without the quick and professional response, this could have gotten a lot scarier.
