According to MiamiTodayNews.com, annexation is still open to the Miami-Dade Commission. With the drastic budget cuts, some in the county commission wanted to put a stop to municipal annexations citing potential loss of revenues to the county. However, the vote to put a moratorium on annexations failed when it garnered a tie vote in committee. That opens the door for Miami Springs, Virginia Gardens, Medley and Doral to move forward with their respective annexation applications.
This does not guarantee that the applications will receive final approval, but it`s a step closer to a final decision by the commission.
