The Miami Springs Senior High Golden Hawks varsity football team continued their dominant start to the 2026 season on Friday night, August 28, 2026, grinding out a hard-fought 20-14 victory over the visiting Coral Gables Cavaliers!
Playing in front of an energetic home crowd under the lights at Milander Park, the Golden Hawks were tested from start to finish in this competitive non-conference matchup.
The first half was a highly contested, back-and-forth affair. Both teams found opportunities early, and they headed into the locker room at halftime locked in a tense 14-14 tie.
However, the second half belonged to the Golden Hawks’ defense and ground game. The Miami Springs defensive unit put on a stellar performance, completely shutting down the Cavaliers’ offense and holding them scoreless for the final two quarters. Miami Springs managed to punch in a crucial touchdown in the second half to secure the 20-14 lead, defending it with determination until the final whistle.
Undefeated Month of August
With this hard-earned victory, the Golden Hawks advance to 2-0 in the regular season. Including their preseason Kickoff Classic win (35-7 against Southwest Miami on August 13), Miami Springs finishes the month of August completely undefeated and riding high on momentum.
Meanwhile, the loss drops the Coral Gables Cavaliers’ record to 1-1 on the season.
