Arlene Rovell went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 3rd, 2024, just after her 90th birthday, in West Lafayette, Indiana, her home for the past 38 years.
For much of that time, she was an RN at Wabash Valley Hospital, where her proudest achievement was shaping and running the Office of Utilization Review for more than 10 years. Arlene’s other passions included decorating her cozy home, collecting antique coin glass and operating a booth at Raven’s Roost for several years. She served on PEFCU’s lending review committee. She was an accomplished singer and through the years brought joy to others through solos and choir work in the many churches she attended. The past few years brought peaceful enjoyment listening to nearby church chimes and watching birds, chipmunks and squirrels from her sunny back deck.
Born in upstate New York, Arlene was raised by her loving parents Michael and Ada Hawtur. Her thirty-six year marriage to Robert Rovell brought many changes, including that of being a pastor’s wife, which necessitated many moves to a variety of locales, including Houghton, NY, Hightstown, NJ, Perrineville, NJ, Syracuse, NY, Mt. Holly, NJ, Miami Springs, FL and Gulfport, MS.
Arlene is survived by her children, Christine (husband Douglas) and Keith (wife Carol); grandchildren Sharon (husband Mark), Scott, John, and Jennifer (husband David); and a great grandchild, June. She has promised to greet each of them at the Pearly Gates when the time comes and welcome them to their new heavenly home.
The family is holding a private ceremony in the Chapel of Faith at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Horizon Oncology Center, Lafayette, Indiana. You may leave condolences and memories at www.soller-baker.com.
