We are saddened to share the news that beloved local, Altagracia Suggs, has passed away.
The Miami Springs Police Department shared the following statement:
“It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to and announce the passing of one of our beloved school crossing guards, Altagracia Suggs. Ms. Suggs faithfully served our community at Springview Elementary, always greeting students and families with warmth and kindness. She was truly loved by both our department and the community she protected each day. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her impact will never be forgotten. 🤍”

Altagracia was also a longtime employee at Milam’s Markets where she worked as a cashier. This is where many of us in Miami Springs were able to meet and interact with her sweet and kind soul.

Altagracia’s name translates to “High Grace” and she always conducted herself with grace and kindness. In the years of going to Milam’s, I never once saw her flustered or upset. Instead, she was always kind and cheerful with a perpetual smile. She was the kind of person that made your mood better just by interacting with her.

While we are saddened by her passing, there’s a part of me smiling knowing that such a kind soul is in good company with the Lord above.
Our thoughts go out to Altagracia’s family and friends during this difficult time. Be comforted by the fact that Altagracia touched many more people than you probably know.
