The Miami Springs Elementary “Panther Bots” Robotics team was recognized at Monday’s Miami Springs Council Meeting for their wonderful work during this amazing season.
If you haven’t been following the Miami Springs Elementary Robotics Team (known as the “Panther Bots”), you are missing out on one of the most exciting STEM stories of the 2025-2026 school year. These elementary schoolers are out there dominating the VEX IQ “Mix & Match” challenge, and they are doing it with serious style. Let’s dive into their incredible journey!

🏫 The “Gold STEAM” Standard
Success like this doesn’t happen by accident. Miami Springs Elementary is a designated “Gold STEAM School,” which means they weave Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math into everything they do.

🧩 The Game: Mix & Match Madness!
This year’s VEX IQ challenge is called “Mix & Match,” and it is intense. The goal? Robots have to navigate a 6-foot by 8-foot field, scoop up colored Pins and structural Beams, snap them together into multi-colored “Stacks,” and place them in goals.
Oh, and they only have 60 seconds to do it! To make it even crazier, this year requires exactly three team members per match: two drivers who swap the controller halfway through, and a “Loader” who rapid-fires pins onto the field. It takes supreme teamwork and communication, and MSE Robotics has proven they are the ultimate dream team.

🏆 Stacking Up the Trophies
Over just a few short months, MSE Robotics has built an eye-popping trophy case:
-
The Brains – Create Award (Jan 24, 2026): At the RMS Qualifier, the team wowed the judges with their brilliant mechanical design and their highly detailed Engineering Notebook. The Create Award proves these kids aren’t just driving robots; they are true engineers building unique, creative solutions.
-
The Brawn – Teamwork Champion Award (Jan 31, 2026): Just a week later at the ACSP Roaring Robots tournament, it was game on. Paired with an alliance team, they scored the highest points in the final elimination rounds to be crowned Teamwork Champions! This epic win automatically qualified them for the Regional Championship and sparked the proud local headline: “MSE Robotics Scores 1st Place.”
-
The Heart – Inspire Award (March 7, 2026): Advancing to the fiercely competitive South Florida Event Region Championship against elite public and private schools, Team Panther Bots earned the Inspire Award! This means they showed the highest levels of passion, sportsmanship, and positive energy in the entire region.
Let’s go MSE Robotics! 🚀 Be sure to keep cheering them on as they continue to mix, match, and conquer!
