Yesterday, the Village of Virginia Gardens proudly celebrated the 93rd birthday of Georgie Carter-Krell, a cherished member of our community. Ms. Krell is the proud mother of Bruce Wayne Carter, a true American hero who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. On August 7, 1969, Bruce courageously gave his life to save his fellow Marines, a brave act that earned him the Medal of Honor.
In the morning, Ms. Krell was honored with a surprise celebration, thoughtfully organized by the PFC Bruce W Carter MOH Young Marines of Miami/Broward/Monroe Counties. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Young Marines for their dedication to honoring both Ms. Krell and her son’s remarkable legacy.
