Miami Springs is blessed to have so many community focused residents and community service groups. One of those amazing groups is the Miami Springs Boy Scouts.

Look no further than the recently dedicated Charles B. Stafford Memorial created by Miami Springs Boy Scout Danny Iglesias.  The Memorial was part of Mr. Iglesias’ Eagle Scout Project.

The project honors the only Miami Springs Police Officer killed in the line of duty, Officer Charles B. Stafford.

The memorial reads as follows:

In honor of Officer Charles Brian Stafford

July 22, 1962 –  June 11, 1991

Beloved son, husband, father, hero, and true friend.

Who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the community of Miami Springs in the line of duty with honor, courage, and dedication.

May this memorial stand as a tribute to his service and sacrifice.

Forever remembered.  Forever honored.

We again want to thank Danny Iglesias for his dedication to this project along with the scout leaders, mentors, city council, police department, parks and rec, and the city administration for helping this young man memorialize a fallen hero from our community.  Your project will long be remembered in Miami Springs.

Thank you!

Miami-Dade County Commissioner, Natalie Milian Orbis, shared the following on social media:

…We came together to honor the life and legacy of Officer Charles B. Stafford, a true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to this community.

Moments like these remind us that behind every badge is a life dedicated to protecting others, and a legacy that deserves to be remembered for generations.

I want to commend Daniel Iglesias from @troop334 for selecting such an incredible initiative as his Eagle Scout project, and for his incredible work in restoring this memorial. Through his leadership and dedication, he has ensured that Officer Stafford’s story will continue to live on as a place of reflection and remembrance for all who visit.

Officer Stafford’s courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on here in Miami Springs and in the hearts of all those he served.

We pray that our Miami Springs Police officers are able to return home every day after completing their shifts.  But this is a reminder that our police officers risk their lives every day in order to protect our beautiful community.
