During a Sunday run along Curtiss Parkway, I was surprised to see a gathering occurring near the Miami Springs War Memorial. The Miami Springs Republican Club had gathered a group of speakers to honor Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated last week.

The small group had attracted a few dozen in the audience to show their respect for Charlie Kirk.

The event featured a diverse group of speakers sharing their thoughts on Charlie Kirk and the need to continue to speak publicly and peacefully.

With the recent assassination attempt, Miami Springs Police were present with a strong show of force.

As you might expect, the event itself was peaceful and had no issues.

As publishers, we are adamant supporters of the First Amendment. It is important to encourage contrasting points of views. Furthermore, the First Amendment is not designed to protect popular speech. It’s designed to protect unpopular speech.

Regardless of your political opinions, Charlie Kirk encouraged exactly what you want to see, respectful debate. Let’s encourage more respectful debate.

“Black women do not have brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot.”
“Gay people should be stoned to death”
“Gun deaths are acceptable in order to have the 2nd amendment”
and there is a lot more, Kirk said all these things for money, he was a hater.
