COVID-19 CASES IN FLORIDA
Cases continued to drop statewide last week. In the State of Florida, we had just 9,049 new cases of COVID-19 last week. That’s the first time the State had less than 10,000 weekly cases since early June of last year.
We also saw fatalities in Florida drop to just 205 people last week. That’s the lowest number of statewide weekly fatalities since November 2020.
COVID-19 CASES IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
In Miami-Dade County, the number of new COVID-19 cases dropped to 1,603. That’s the lowest number of weekly new cases in Miami-Dade County since June 7, 2020.
In Miami-Dade County, we had just 80 new hospitalizations last week. That’s the lowest number of weekly COVID-19 hospitalizations since December of last year. Fatalities also fell in Miami-Dade County last week with 48 deaths reported. That’s the lowest number of weekly fatalities since November 2020.
COVID-19 CASES IN MIAMI SPRINGS
The number of new cases within our zip code bumped up to 21 last week. That’s still a relatively low number throughout this pandemic. We estimate about 12 new cases in Miami Springs last week.
COVID-19 VACCINES THIS WEEK
Folks, the vaccines are working. Cases are coming down. Fatalities are coming down. We live in a free country. You decide what’s right for YOUR health. With that said, we highly recommend people to get their COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves and protect the loved ones around them.
This week the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) returns to the Miami Springs Rec Center to provide the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. NOTE: The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has only been approved for adults and NOT for children. The vaccine this week will only be available for adults.
