Folks, it’s that time of year again where we set the clocks back one hour this weekend.  The good news is that we gain an hour this weekend.  The bad news (for some) is that it gets darker earlier in the day.

🕑 What’s happening?

  • At 2:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, November 2, 2025, clocks will be set back one hour. So you’ll go from 2:00 a.m. daylight time (EDT) → 1:00 a.m. standard time (EST). Time and Date+3Time and Date+3Time and Date+3

  • This marks the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) for the year, and we revert to “normal” or standard time. Live Science+1

⏰ Why does this matter?

  • Because clocks shift, there will be one extra hour of sleep (if you stay on schedule) — a small bonus for Sunday morning.

  • On the flip side: sunrise and sunset will each occur about one hour earlier (by the clock) than they did the day before. That means more daylight in the morning, but earlier darkness in the evening. Time and Date+1

  • For scheduling: If you use any analog clocks or devices that don’t automatically update, you’ll need to manually adjust them (or double-check they’ve auto-adjusted) to avoid arriving “an hour off.”

👍 How you can prepare

  • The night before (Saturday), before going to bed, update any clocks (wall clocks, ovens, microwaves, etc) that don’t change automatically.

  • If you have early-morning plans on Sunday (church, breakfast meeting, kids to school, etc), set your alarms accordingly.

  • Use the extra hour to your advantage: maybe plan for a little more sleep, or use the extra morning light for exercise, errands or an outing.

  • The general U.S. rule: DST begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. Almanac+1

  • Florida (including Miami Springs) observes DST, unlike some U.S. locations which stay on standard time year-round. Wikipedia+1

  • There’s ongoing discussion (and legislation) about making DST permanent or abolishing it, but for now the change still applies. Wikipedia+1
