Retired Miami Springs Police Chief Jimmy Deal was honored at Monday’s Miami Springs City Council Meeting for his 34 years of service to the City of Miami Springs.

Our new Police Chief, Matthew Castillo shared some of the following highlights of Chief Deal’s career with Miami Springs:

  • Started as a Police Dispatcher December 10, 1990
  • Started the Police Academy in 1993
  • Graduated K-9 School with K-9 Arko (1st dual purpose Police K-9)
  • October 2004 was promoted to Sergeant
  • 2015 promoted to Liutenant
  • 2019 promoted to Captain
  • 2024 promoted to Chief of Police
  • Two time recipient of the Life Saving Award
  • Officer of the Year 1995 and 2011
  • Two time recipient of the Charles B. Stafford Going the Extra Mile Award
  • Award 0939 for Most Arrests in the Department in 1995

Chief Jimmy Deal was born and raised in Miami Springs.  His love and passion for our beautiful community set an example to everyone at the department.  We can’t thank Chief Jimmy Deal enough for his 34 years of unwavering commitment to our beautiful Miami Springs.
