What began as a prompt response to a local disturbance on Thursday, September 24, 2026, quickly escalated into a significant narcotics seizure and multiple arrests at a Miami Springs hotel.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., Miami Springs Police Department officers were dispatched to a reported battery incident. Upon arriving at the hotel, responding officers located a female victim in distress in the hotel lobby. Officers quickly initiated a thorough on-scene investigation to reconstruct the events leading up to the call.
The initial phase of the investigation resulted in the arrest of Juan Antonio Garrandes, who was taken into custody and charged with simple battery.
Investigation Uncovers Stash of Methamphetamine and Mushrooms
As officers continued their investigation inside the hotel room, they observed illegal drugs and paraphernalia in plain sight. Inside an open suitcase in the room, officers discovered suspected methamphetamine, suspected psilocybin mushrooms, and a digital pocket scale.
The narcotics seized by officers were weighed during the processing of evidence. According to Miami Springs Police reports:
- The suspected methamphetamine weighed approximately 18.7 grams.
- The suspected psilocybin mushrooms weighed approximately 23.2 grams.
Jennifer Wright, who was identified as the registered guest of the hotel room, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance (psilocybin) in connection with the narcotics investigation.
Third Individual Arrested on Active Warrant
During the course of the investigation, officers identified and arrested a third individual linked to the incident, Alain Perez (identified in police reports as Vega). He was taken into custody on an active Miami-Dade County bench warrant.
