According to an article published by GoBankingRates.com, the City of Miami Springs was ranked #31 among the top 50 American cities to retire without a car.

The report stated that “All qualifying cities in this study feature at least 20% of their populations at retirement age (65 and up). “
The report then gauged each city based on Livability, Walkability, Annual Cost of Living, and Cost of transportation index.
The study gave Miami Springs a Livability score of 83 out of 100. The walkability index reached 15.0 out of 20.0. The annual cost of living came in at $76,859. And the cost of transportation index came in at 139.8
We agree that Miami Springs is a great place to live, raise a family, and retire. We have miles of walking paths, a great senior center, a world class golf course, incredible weather, and access to the finest health care South Florida has to offer.
That being said, the South Florida weather, while beautiful, does not make it practical to truthfully retire without a car. We all know you can get a sweat just walking down your own driveway. And the summer thunderstorms are traversed far better by having a personal car than without.
Other Florida cities also made the top 50 list including:
- #1 – Wilton Manors, Florida
- #16 – Tavares, Florida
- #24 – New Port Richey, Florida
- #31 – Miami Springs, Florida
- #49 – North Port, Florida
What do you think? Do you agree with this list?
