For several months now, the Miami Springs Police Department has been engaged in a noticeable sustained campaign against traffic violations. Hook Square has notoriously had traffic violators blocking the intersection in the afternoon. However, that behavior has come under serious curtailment thanks to the sustained campaign that started under Chief Deal and appears to have been strengthened under current Chief Castillo.

Nearly every afternoon, you can count on spotting either a Miami Springs Police Officer or at least a Public Service Aide helping to keep vehicles heading towards Hialeah on Hook Square from blocking westbound traffic on South Royal Poinciana Boulevard.

We love the visibility of our officers as it brings back a bit of the old reputation where drivers feared violating Miami Springs traffic rules. This has long been a complaint from residents and its wonderful to see the strong and visible effort by MSPD.
We want to thank all the Police Officers, Motormen, and even the Public Service Aides who are doing their part to educate drivers and keep our streets flowing during rush hour.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
