Karen Ann Stevens Bruener, age 81 of Miami Springs, passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2025. Karen is survived by her husband, Lawrence Bruener; her children, Jeffrey Bruener, Timothy Bruener, Kenneth Bruener, Emily Messina, and their spouses; her grandchildren, Melanie Gould, Mason Wolff, Mia Wolff, Tyler Bruener, Trinity Bruener, Madeline Montgomery , Sophia Bruener, Hayden Bruener, and Carinne Messina; her great-grandchildren, Harry Gould, Charlotte Gould, Marianne Gould, and Anthony Montgomery; her sisters, Dorothy Troudt, Margaret McClure, Kathy Felicetty and Patti Crome, and countless family and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Marlene Bruener Wolff and cherished sister, Pamela Joan Stevens.

Karen was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Gertrude “Toni” and Fredrick Stevens. She was raised on Barksdale Air Force Base and graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1962. Karen and Larry married in 1963, moving to Miami Springs where they treasured the small-town feel, raising five children active in sports, recreation, and community events. Larry and Karen built a strong faith family at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and School where Karen served as a dedicated volunteer for over 60 years, teaching CCD Sunday School, working years of festivals, coordinating Ladies Guild events, and serving as room mother coordinator, substitute teacher, and school office aide. Karen will be remembered as a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a friend, a teacher, and most of all, a role model.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 6PM at the Caballero Rivero Hialeah Funeral Home, located at 373 W 9th St, Hialeah, FL 33010.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 10AM at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, located at 4020 Curtiss Pkwy, Miami Springs, FL 33166.
Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at noon at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, located at 11411 NW 25th St, Doral, FL 33172.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association..
