Miami Springs Police Officer, William Keller, was allegedly shot and injured by Robert Knuck who was holding hostages at 1200 Robin Avenue in Miami Springs on October 27, 1975. According to the Wolfson Archives, a child hostage was brought out by sergeant Gene Duffy.
We received news this week that William Keller, the officer who was shot in the line of duty 49 years ago, recently passed away. His brother, Charles was just 13 years old when it happened. Charles shared that “The video …(below) was enlightening as I only had limited knowledge of the actual tragic event.”

Bill Keller passed away on October 28, 2024. That was exactly 49 years and 1 day after he was shot on duty as a Miami Springs Police Officer. His funeral mass was held this week at the Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, Florida. His brother shared the following:
He had a tough life, and a loving wife – RuthAnn. They were married for 54 years. His training as a Marine got him through those tough times. Gone but never forgotten. “
