The Miami Springs Police Department announced today that the police raid that was executed yesterday on the 600 block of Mokena Drive with the assistance of the City of Miami SWAT team, has led to the arrests of four people on various narcotics charges.

Justin Gilbert

Justin Gilbert, 45 years old, had the most charges including:

  • Possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school with the intent to sell and distribute (Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Psilocybin mushroom, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Heroin, Alprazolam, Tapentadol, and Oxycodone.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Felony child neglect (no great bodily harm)
  • 3rd Degree grand theft auto

David Armeda

David Armeda, 33 years old, was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Possession of Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), Methamphetamine, and Oxycodone.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Kimberly Lazala

Kimberly Lazala, 36 years old, was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Bench warrant for petty theft

Suzanne Fish

Suzanne Fish, 40 years old, was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Possession of Heroin.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

The arrests occurred at the 600 block of Mokena Drive.  That’s less than two blocks from AIE Charter School and Miami Springs Middle School.  Both schools went into lockdown yesterday as the raid was in progress just as a precautionary measure.

All four were transported to TGK and remain in Miami-Dade Corrections custody.

As a reminder, individuals arrested are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  The State Attorney’s Office then decides whether to offer a plea deal or move forward with a prosecution depending on the evidence of each individual case.

REPORT SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR

Folks, it angers me to know we have drug dealers, pimps, and sex trafficking along NW 36th Street Hotels.  It’s infuriating to learn of alleged drug dealing within our quiet residential community.  Folks, if you see suspicious behavior in our community, don’t hesitate to contact Miami Springs Police at 305.888.9711.

The police can’t be everywhere.  Let’s do our part to keep Miami Springs safe.
