Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez stated in a press conference this afternoon that he’ll make an announcement next week that more businesses will be able to open. As an example, Mayor Gimenez specifically called out that Zoo Miami will be re-opening.
The press conference was shared with Governor De Santis and Miami-Dade County Public Schools superintendent Carvalho. At the conference, superintendent Carvalho announced that they will begin opening schools with a hybrid plan. Some students in class. Some students online. Carvalho stated that in person schooling may begin as soon as the end of this month. While no official date was given, we are encouraged to see the continuing trend of life slowly but surely returning to normal.
Our County’s move to Phase 2, announced by @GovRonDeSantis, lifts a roadblock that prevented us from taking steps to reopen schools. With guidance from medical experts & the School Board, we're optimistic that we'll be able to make an announcement prior to Sept. 30, as planned. pic.twitter.com/7PV5d8Nc8k
