Ophelia Buñuel returned to Tallahassee this year for the Senate Page Program, sponsored by Senator Bryan Avila, while her brother Agustin “Tino” Buñuel joined her as a first-time participant in the House Page Program, sponsored by Representative Alex Rizo.

Both lawmakers were gracious with their time, giving Ophelia and Tino valuable insight into public service. The two had the honor of meeting Senator Jason Pizzo, Senate President Albritton, Representative Vicki Lopez, House Speaker Paul Renner, and Governor Ron DeSantis.

The experience offered a deep dive into the legislative process and the many voices that shape our state. It was an incredible opportunity to represent Miami Springs at the Capitol.

Their journey continued in Washington, D.C., with a stop at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, which features our very own Glenn Curtiss. They also visited The Florida House, where they met former Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen during a special event with Carlos Orta, author of The Rise of Cuban Americans in Florida Politics.

We’re proud of Ophelia and Tino for representing our city with excellence once again.
