The Miami Springs Parade is a great tradition many consider to be the best, family friendly 4th of July Parade in South Florida.
However, according to the Wolfson Archives, back in 1977 Miami Springs city officials actually cancelled the 4th of July parade “due to a revenue shortfall.”
No surprise. Miami Springs residents rebelled. “Led by city resident Tom Brady, liberty-loving locals staged their own parade, with residents of Miami Springs mixing with folk from neighboring cities in a homespun, hometown celebration of July 4th.”
