The City of Miami Springs Police Department announced the arrest of Adam Ortiz on charges of:
- Cannabis / trafficking > 25 But < 2000lbs / 300 Plants: Cannabis (Felony)
- Money Laundering / transport Monetary / > $20k < $200k (Felony)
Miami Springs Police pulled over an SUV on Friday, September 10th, in the area of Oakwood Drive and Kenmore Avenue (near the Miami Regional University buidling) for having illegal tints and an obstructed license plate. According to a release from the City of Miami Springs Police Department, when the officer approached the SUV, a strong odor of cannabis was detected. The driver, Adam Ortiz, was described as “visibly shaken and sweating profusely.” Police asked Ortiz to setup outside the vehicle and was asked for consent to search the SUV. Ortiz agreed to the search.
Upon searching the vehicle, Police found “tens of thousands of dollars in quick count bundles.” The Police also found two large plastic storage containers in the rear cargo compartment which contained several sealed plastic bags containing marijuana / cannabis. The total weight of the cannabis exceeded forty pounds.
Ortiz was booked into TGK just after midnight on September 11th.
