NW 36th Street hotels were famous for hosting airline pilots, stewardesses, and families vacationing in Miami.  Unfortunately, that reputation has given way to human trafficking and prostitution.

Miami Springs Police announced the arrest of Dennis Washington on Thursday, December 30, 2021.  MSPD allege that Washington trafficked a female victim from Illinois to Miami Springs.

According to the release, the victim was able to contact MSPD who responded immediately to the alleged human trafficking incident at a NW 36th Street hotel.  The victim advised the Police that she was being prostituted by a male subject.  That subject was subsequently identified as the aforementioned Dennis Washington.

According to the investigation, the victim had been recruited from the Chicago area back in November.  The victim claimed she was being forced to prostitute for another male.  Washington is alleged to have claimed to “save her” from prostitution and she left with him.   According to the release, the victim was allegedly given illegal drugs.  She allegedly awoke the next day to find her money and her identification taken away by Washington.  Nearly immediately the victim’s new savior, Washington, is alleged to have informed the victim that he would force the victim to prostitute for him.

Miami Springs Police allege that the victim was transported by Washington from Illinois to Miami Springs around Tuesday, December 28, 2021.  Police also allege that Washington continued to prostitute the victim “by using force, fraud, coercion, and drugs.”

Upon arriving at the NW 36th Street Hotel, Miami Springs Police allege that they were able to locate Dennis Washington on the 5th floor of the hotel.  The suspect was allegedly heading towards the elevators.  The subject was detained by Police as they were investigating the situation and trying to sort out what was happening.  As the Miami Springs Police Officers were waiting to get information on Mr. Washington’s background, MSPD alleged the subject charged at the officers and began to physically fight with them.  Police allege Washington continued to fight as the officers successfully took him into custody.
