The Miami Springs Senior High Golden Hawks Baseball Team lost last week in the District Championship Game to Miami Lakes Academy in a wild game. It was a 1-1 tie after 7 innings forcing extra innings.
The Hawks pulled the pitcher who had gone the entire game. In the eighth inning, Mater Lakes added 9 runs, turning the 1-1 tie into a 1-9 deficit.
However, the Hawks didn’t give up. The Hawks got hot and batted in 5 runs in the bottom of the eighth, but it wasn’t enough to force the game into another inning or win the game outright. The final score was Miami Springs 6 – Mater Lakes 10.
Fortunately, the Hawks are still in the State Regionals. Thanks to their winning record and strength of schedule, the Hawks get to play on. However, moving forward they must continue to win to stave off elimination.
The Hawks will get a chance at revenge as their next game this Wednesday is a rematch at Mater Lakes Academy at 7pm. Let’s go Hawks!
