A new chapter begins on Westward Drive this weekend! City Rev Church is officially opening its doors in Miami Springs with a special Grand Opening launch service and community celebration on Sunday, October 25th at 10:30 AM at 378 Westward Drive.
The community is invited to join the worship service and stay afterward for a fun neighborhood gathering featuring local food vendors, ice cream, iced and hot coffee, a bounce house, and a photo booth for families. Dedicated Kids Ministry programming (serving infants through 5th grade) will also be ready to welcome children. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and invite friends and neighbors.

Honoring the Legacy of the Historic Miami Springs Baptist Church
The site at 378 Westward Drive holds a deep history in the heart of Miami Springs. For nearly six decades, the property was home to the iconic Miami Springs Baptist Church, which served as a central spiritual home, early childhood education center, and community anchor.
Completed in 1965 by general contractor Ken Wilde, the sanctuary was renowned across South Florida for its striking architectural design. Highlights included a 100-foot curved glass front facade and soaring, slanting roof beams crafted to symbolize ‘praying hands’ lifted toward the sky.

In addition to spiritual fellowship, the church operated a cherished preschool program that educated generations of local children before closing in July 2023 due to financial deficits. Following subsequent structural recertification inspections, aging structural components proved repair costs to be economically unfeasible, leading to the unavoidable demolition of the original sanctuary building in the fall of 2024.

A Vision for Community Renewal
Following the acquisition of the $9 million property, City Rev Church set out to revitalize the grounds to serve Miami Springs and surrounding communities. The transition honors the historical faith-based foundation of 378 Westward Drive while bringing modern ministry spaces designed for Sunday worship, youth growth, and neighborhood connection.
With the official launch set for this Sunday, local residents can once again gather at this iconic corner of Westward Drive for worship, fellowship, and community events.
