As of Monday morning, Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have risen to 5,276 in the State of Florida according to the Florida Department of Health.  The State of Florida has had 652 hospitalizations from the Coronavirus and 63 confirmed deaths related to the disease.  Statewide, that’s a 12% hospitalization rate and a 1.1% mortality rate.  In other words, 88% of the confirmed cases do not need to go to a hospital and 98.9% of those who get it have survived so far.  Obviously, it’s still early and these numbers will change.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY NUMBERS

In Miami-Dade County, the number of confirmed jumped from 1,472 last night to 1,632 this morning.  That represents 31% of the state’s total cases.  The hospitalization rate is 100 out of 1,632 or 6%.  That means 94% of confirmed cases have not needed hospitalization.  There are still just 3 deaths so far in Miami-Dade County putting the mortality rate at 0.18%.  That is well below the state average of 1.1%.  That also means that Miami-Dade County represents just 5% of the Coronavirus fatalities within the State of Florida.
