The 1937 Miami Springs Police Department consisted of a Town Marshal and 4 policemen, 2 on duty during the day and 2 at night, a police patrol car and a motorcycle. The patrol car was equipped with a radio which was operated on a contract with the Miami Police radio station. The patrol car could be at any point within the town limits within 2 minutes of placing the call. L-R Hugh Frank, E.P. Lott, Walter D. Kniffin(Town Marshall), L.J.Cropper, Hoyt Buxton. Kniffin joined the U.S. Marines in WWII and was killed in the Battle of Iwo Jima. The photo is looking east with the Curtiss Bright Administration Building in the background. The Circle Theater and Holleman’s Restaurant complex would later be built in the space between the men and the building.

From the Palmetto, exit at NW 36th Street and head East on NW 36th Street.Ā  Continue East on NW 36th Street and make a left hand turn (North) on East Drive.Ā  Continue North until you reach 501 East Drive.

From I-95, take I-95 to State Road 112 Westbound.Ā  Exit State Road 112 at NW 36th Street.Ā  Continue west on NW 36th Street until you reach East Drive.Ā  Make a right hand turn at East Drive (North).Ā  Continue North on East Drive until you reach 501 East Drive.

From Hialeah, take Okeechobee Road until you reach East 4th Avenue.Ā  Turn south on East 4th Avenue and cross the bridge into Miami Springs.Ā  Take the center lane and continue south onto East Drive.Ā  You’ll see Stafford Park on your left hand side and then the entrance to the Museum Parking lot at 501 East Drive.

The Museum is open each Saturday (except Christmas & New Years) from 12 NoonĀ to 4 pm.

To help support our Members and volunteersā€™ efforts, we ask for a suggestedĀ minimum donation of $8 when visitors arriveĀ (MS Historical Society members, and children under the age of 12 accompanied by an adult, are admitted free to this program).
