We all knew the number of Coronavirus cases were going to go up. Thanks to the massive expansion in testing throughout the State of Florida, residents in need can get tested to help diagnose those who have the virus and who either need to self isolate or be treated in a hospital.
Let’s look at the latest numbers for Miami-Dade County:
- 1,003 Cases
- 588 Men
- 405 Women
- 88 Hospitalizations
- 3 Deaths
I know there’s a lot of news today that the United States now leads the world in the number of Coronavirus cases. I think it’s a testament to the amount of testing the United States has mobilized and the transparency of the results. I suspect some countries are only reporting cases after the person becomes hospitalized.
Fortunately, despite having 1,003 cases in Miami-Dade County, only 88 or just under 10% have needed hospitalization. And so far, 3 deaths out of 1,003 cases in Miami-Dade puts us at a 0.3% mortality rate. That’s way below the mortality rate we’ve seen from other countries.
We’ve been hearing rumors of a confirmed case in Miami Springs, but according to the data provided by the State of Florida, there is not a a reported case in Miami Springs as of yet. Here’s the data on our local cities:
