The demolition has begun.
There’s no secret that the Miami Springs Baptist Church is an historic and iconic place of worship in Miami Springs. The Miami Springs Historical Society shared the following photo showing the construction of the Miami Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Hankins Parker alongside one of the giant beams for the roof of the sanctuary back in 1965. Those beams were used to construct the impressive roof structure of the Miami Springs Baptist Church.
Unfortunately, the structure is no longer safe. The years have not been kind to the old building which failed its recertification inspection. To compound the situation, the cost to repair the existing structure far exceeds the cost to demolish and rebuild.
City Rev Church purchased the Miami Springs Baptist Church and was faced with a heartbreaking reality. The repair costs and long term maintenance costs were just too astronomical. We recently shared these photos showing the damaged roof structure.
Taking these photos was truly sad. You can see the incredible beauty of the original structure. But you can’t ignore the obvious problems that caused the building to fail its inspection.
Unfortunately, these may be some of the last photos of this beautiful Miami Springs gem.
The demolition process has begun. You can see the construction fences and the heavy duty demolition equipment bringing down portions of the building.
As the Lord said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Of course, Jesus was not talking about the temple building. Instead, he was referring to his own journey from the crucifixion on the cross on Good Friday to his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
The Miami Springs Baptist Church structure may not be here much longer, but the new plans from City Rev Church ensures that the property will continue to be used to worship Jesus Christ. Like all construction projects, this won’t be completed overnight. This is just the beginning of a transformation to the much beloved and iconic Baptist Church building in Miami Springs.
