River Cities Youth Fishing Classic

Participants must be between 5 and 17 years old on 4/10/26 and must have submitted a completed registration form signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Participants may fish from shore or boat within the confines of Miami-Dade County

All fish must be caught using rod and reel

Peacock bass and bream must be brought in live to the tournament weigh station located along canal street at the Miami Springs Regatta. Aerated live wells or appropriate water containers are strongly recommended. Dead fish will not be weighed

Largemouth bass must be measured using the official tournament ruler provided. Pictures must be taken of the fish on the measuring board clearly showing the length of the fish.

Participants must follow all local, state, and federal fishing regulations (participants aged 16 and 17 must have a freshwater fishing license)

Eligible fish species for the tournament are largemouth bass, peacock bass, and bream (bluegill and sunfish)

Anglers may weigh in as many peacock bass and bream as they would like, however only their heaviest fish from each category will be counted towards tournament weight.

Since we are using CPR (Catch, Picture, Release) format for largemouth bass, participants only need to provide a picture of their longest bass. Largemouth bass must be released back into the waterway they were caught in. DO NOT BRING LARGEMOUTH BASS TO WEIGH STATION

Anglers must catch their own fish. Participants may receive assistance taking pictures of catch, casting, baiting hooks, removing hooks from fish only if necessary for safety or due to age. Adults may not intentionally hook fish for participants.

The tournament director reserves the right to implement his or her discretion at any time during the tournament as it may apply to the rules or any other circumstance that should arise during the course of the event. Unless otherwise provided for in the tournament rules, decisions and interpretations of the tournament director shall be final.

Winners of the event will be decided by the heaviest combined weight of the three eligible species weighed in. This means an angler can only have weight from up to three fish (1 largemouth bass, 1 peacock bass, and 1 bream). (Since largemouth bass will not be weighed, their length will be converted to weight with 1 centimeter of length equaling 0.2 lb. So every 5cm will be 1lb)

 In the event of a tie in total weight, the angler with the heaviest single fish will be declared the winner. If still tied, the earliest weigh-in time will determine the winner.

Unsportsmanlike conduct, cheating, or violation of tournament rules may result in disqualification at the discretion of tournament officials.

The tournament will officially begin Saturday 4/11/26 at 7am, and end Sunday 4/12/26 at 1pm. The weigh station will be open Saturday, 4/11/26, from 8am – 6pm, and Sunday, 4/12/26, from 8am – 1pm. Fishing may begin at 7am on Saturday and Sunday. Anglers must be in line at the weigh station with their fish before the closing time each day for their catches to count.
