The Miami Springs Golf Cart Parade was yet another in the long list of family friendly holiday traditions in Miami Springs.

This year the parade was even larger. Fully escorted by the Miami Springs Police Department, the parade started along the Curtiss Parkway Bike Path near the golf course parking lot. Then it headed north along the Curtiss Parkway Bike Path and towards the Circle. Traffic was closed off to allow the free flow of movement by the participants of the golf cart parade.

Then, the parade rounded the Circle and continued west on Westward Drive. The parade concluded at the Miami Springs Recreation Center.

The parade route mirrors the old parade route for the Fourth of July parade, but in reverse. In fact, the Christmas Golf Cart Parade is now officially the longest parade in Miami Springs surpassing the current distance of the 4th of July Parade. (Maybe we can increase the length of this year’s parade to its original route from the Rec Center to Curtiss Parkway.)

Hundreds of residents participated on dozens of golf carts decorated in holiday cheer. Many were blasting Christmas music adding to the festivity. And plenty were even dressed for the occasion with Santa hats, holiday sweaters, and even Christmas pajamas.

We love this tradition and especially love the expansion of the route to include nearly all of Westward Drive.

We want to thank Miami Springs Parks and Recreation Director, Omar Luna, Miami Springs City Manager, JC Jimenez, Miami Springs Police Chief, Matthew Castillo, for supporting this event. Special thanks go out to the entire Parks and Rec Team and all the officers who worked to close the streets and keep the parade moving safely. And finally, we want to thank all the residents who did their part to decorate their golf carts and participate in the fun Miami Springs tradition.

Miami Springs has changed a lot over the years. Some changes we like more than others. But one of the changes we love has been Miami Springs’ conversion into a fully fledge golf cart community. The golf carts are fun and encourage more opportunities for friendly interactions between neighbors.

What did you think of this year’s golf cart parade? Will you participate next year?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! God bless Miami Springs!
