Last Sunday, the City of Miami Springs held a beautiful hometown parade and celebration on the Circle to honor the 2025 STATE CHAMPIONS: Miami Springs Senior High Golden Hawks Baseball Team!
The baseball team met at the parking lot for the Recreation Center, a throwback to the classic July 4th Parades that used to start at the Rec Center.
The Miami Springs Police Department was present to provide the police escort.
The players were escorted to the Circle on a special open top parade bus. And just like when LeBron James and Dwyane Wade had to duck the overpasses from their double decker bus, the MSSH Baseball players had to duck the low hangin oak trees. I guess that’s a championship bus ride tradition.
It was fun to see residents on Westward Drive coming out of their homes to cheer on the Championship Baseball Team!
Of course, it wasn’t just the Championship Baseball Team. The Miami Springs Senior High cheerleaders and marching band led the way as onlookers cheered on the champions.

When the bus arrived at the Circle, the Champions were greeted by cheers from fans, family, and friends. They were cheered, applauded, and in Miami Springs tradition, doused with water.
The players then disembarked the bus and headed toward the stage to be recognized and honored by a plethora of local politicians.
Mayor Walter Fajet served as the emcee of the Celebratory event and recognized all the players and politicians that helped make the event possible.
Miami Springs resident, former Councilman and City Attorney, and current Miami-Dade School Board Member, Danny Espino was also on hand to congratulate the players, parents, and coaches.
Newly appointed Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis was on hand to celebrate with the team. We continue to hope she’ll be more responsive to Miami Springs and Virginia Gardens’ needs than her predecessor. So far, I’m hearing good things, but only time will tell.
Miami Springs resident, Miami Springs Senior High alum, and your State Senator, Bryan Avila was extra pumped up to cheer on and celebrate his Alma Mater’s victorious championship win.
Class of ’91 alum and Mayor of Virginia Gardens, Spencer Deno was also very proud of the Championship Team as he presented a plaque to the team. He shared some inspiring and kind words to the team and told the young men on stage, “…Remember where you come from.” while pointing out how this wonderful home town had come together to celebrate the team’s accomplishment.
Of course, the Miami Springs City Council was also on hand to celebrate the victory including class of ’91 alum, Mayor Walter Fajet, Councilman Jorge Santin, Councilman Orlando Lamas, and Councilman Fabian Perez-Crespo.
Not to be outdone, the Town of Medley’s Council was also on hand and presented the team with a Key to the City. What a great honor!
We want to thank everyone who made the celebration possible. This was truly an example of what a wholesome hometown celebration is all about!
And once again, Congratulations to the 2025 STATE CHAMPIONS! Your Miami Springs Senior High Golden Hawks Baseball Team!
Way to go men! And remember, Once a Hawk…Always a Hawk!
Meet the Champions!
