On Monday night, September 14, 2026, the Miami Springs City Council held its critical first public budget hearing for Fiscal Year 2026–2027. Council members voted to adopt a tentative millage rate of 6.8100 mills. That keeps our millage rate flat. No increase. No decrease.
The millage is the rate. However, if your property value increased, then you may actually pay more depending on the rise in the value of your property.
Because this was the first reading, the millage rate and budget are only tentative. The Council has scheduled the second and final public budget hearing for Monday, September 28, 2026, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Residents are strongly encouraged to attend the final hearing to express their views before the city formally adopts the final budget and tax rate for the coming year.
This November, Florida voters will have a chance to vote on the future of homesteaded property taxes. The results of this election will have far flung impacts on how the city budgets itself in the future. However, that will not impact the upcoming fiscal year.
