This is what I can best describe as a sad story. Lubby Navarro was a fellow classmate at Miami Springs Senior High class of 1992. She was an exemplary student and, in fact, was our class president.

I admired her bright career in politics as she became a Miami-Dade County School Board Member. Unfortunately, Navarro was arrested and charged with grand theft back in January, 2024. She was accused of using school board funds for personal purchases.
According to NBC 6, Lubby pleaded guilty to 3rd degree grand theft. As a result, she was sentenced to 14 months in prison. She will also have three years of probation after her release.
In addition to jail time, Navarro will have to pay over $100,000 in restitution.
Once she has completed her jail time and probation, the ban on working in government will be lifted.
NBC 6 quoted Navarro with saying, “I want to begin by apologizing to the children of Miami-Dade public schools.”
