Congratulations to the Miami Springs Senior High 2020 Teacher of the Year: Ms. Corina P. Mills! Ms. Mills is the school’s Student Services Department Chairperson, Cambridge Coordinator, and Magnet Counselor.
Ms. Mills has served Miami-Dade County Public schools for 31 years and 21 years as a high school counselor. She has been the Student services department chairperson since 2004. She has also worked for the adult education program, commonly known as “Night School” since 1989
She left briefly in 2009 to work at the District level as a curriculum support specialist for high school counselors and CAP advisors. However, when her eldest sone was starting 9th grade, she had an opportunity to return back to MSSH as a counselor and she took it. She described it as the “Best decision I ever made!”
In addition to her career at Miami Springs Senior High, Ms. Mills is also an Alumni of MSSH class of ’87. Her husband John is also a Golden Hawk from the class of 1980. She is also proud that her four sons are also alumni: Timothy (class of 2016), Joseph (class of 2018), Kenneth (class of 2019), and Michael (class of 2020).
Ms. Mills is also proud to be a resident of Miami Springs for over 25 years and has also worked part time (seasonal events) for the City of Miami Springs Parks and Recreation Department and their summer camp program.
Thank you Ms. Mills for what you do for our children and our community. We are grateful for your “strong belief in education and how it touches people’s lives and changes their future.”
