We’ve warned you repeatedly that the School Zone Speed Cameras that automatically ticket speeders were coming.  The Miami Springs Police Department turned the cameras on, but were only sending automated Warnings.

Effective Friday, May 30, 2025, any vehicle speeding 11mph or more above the speed limit in our school zones will receive a speeding ticket in the mail.

And guess what, the number one speeders are not outsiders.  They are mostly you, the Miami Springs residents.  So slow it down and make sure you don’t speed through our school zones.

Here’s a quick recap of how it works.  The Florida Legislature allowed for the creation of automated speed traps at school zones.  As a result, the City of Miami Springs has installed the automated speed detection devices (aka Automated Speed Traps) around some of our local Miami Springs schools.

These traps will trigger when vehicles are speeding 11 mph or more over the posted speed limit starting 30 minutes before the posted school zone times and continuing throughout the school day until 30 minutes after the posted school zone times.
