The Village of Virginia Gardens, long known for its quiet, tree-lined streets and serene residential character, is officially planting the seeds for an exciting new municipal space: a dedicated Virginia Gardens Community Garden.
The initiative, which has been in active development, aims to create a shared ecological and agricultural hub where residents of all ages can gather, cultivate organic fruits and vegetables, and foster neighborhood connections. It aligns directly with the village’s active Beautification Board, which continuously spearheads Florida-friendly landscaping and tree planting initiatives to preserve the local canopy and unique environment.

A Vision Brought to Life
The concept for the garden was formally brought to light during the Village Council regular meeting on August 15, 2024. Local resident Nicolas Fernandez delivered a comprehensive, formal presentation to the Mayor and Village Council, laying out the practical design, environmental benefits, and community-building opportunities of a local organic plot.
Recently, Nicolas Fernandez shared a heartening progress update and the first look at the real garden development on social media:
“I’m excited to finally share something I’ve been working on for a while, the Virginia Gardens Community Garden!
I’ve been involved in this project from the beginning, from researching and planning to picking out plants, getting supplies and helping put everything together. I’ve learned a lot throughout the process, and it’s been really cool seeing something that started as an idea actually begin to come together. I definitely couldn’t have done it alone. A huge thank you to my family, our sponsors Superior Landscaping, Village of Virginia Gardens, and everyone who has helped and supported the garden along the way.
We still have work to do, but I’m excited to see it finished and hopefully become something our community can enjoy for years to come. More progress coming soon!”
