Wow!  Miami Springs is just an incredible community.

The recent Jail and Bail for Charity event raised over $20,000 in one week.  That’s simply incredible.

Over $20,000 Raised for Charity in Miami Springs
Over $20,000 Raised for Charity in Miami Springs

The fundraiser was hosted by the magnificent Miami Springs Woman’s Club.  Its goal was to raise $10,000 that would then go to the SebastianStrong Foundation, the Chad Tough Foundation, and the Miami Springs Woman’s Club.

In order to raise the money, the Woman’s Club got together with the Miami Springs Police Department’s, Officer Jorge Capote, and “arrested” 14 prominent Miami Springs residents.  Then, those residents reached out to the community to help bail them out of jail.

Well, the Miami Springs Community responded to this fun and viral fundraiser by donating $20,087 (as of July 6th at 4pm).  That’s more than double the original goal of $10,000.

This community truly is amazing.  Thank you to everyone who participated and donated to this great cause.  Special thanks go to Milly Perez and the entire Miami Springs Woman’s Club.  Milly did an amazing job with her team of producing Hollywood quality videos and teasers that helped to communicate the message through multiple online platforms.  And she was constantly communicating with the participants before, during, and after the jailing to help everybody raise the bail requirements.

We also want to thank Officer Jorge Capote from the Miami Springs Community Policing Office.  Officer Capote provides a great example of what it means to be proactively engaging the Police Department with various community organizations.

We want to thank the Miami Springs residents including politicians, business owners, and civic members who took time away from their busy lives to help raise funds for this great cause.

But most importantly, we want to thank the Miami Springs Community including friends, family, and even strangers who took time and donated their hard earned cash to raise funds for this great cause.  Thank you so much!

Alright folks.  I just want to say thank you to the friends and family who helped to bail me out.  I had reported to “jail” at the Miami Springs Woman’s Club last week.  I was short of the bail money needed to get out.  Then all of a sudden, in the middle of a conversation with Milly Perez (one of my jailers), I get a call from a local business owner, Anil Mistry.  He wanted to know how he could participate.  I told him, he could help bail me out of jail.  And guess what, he donated $400 on the spot to help bail me out of jail.  He added “My absolute pleasure to aid a great cause…”  Thanks Anil.  I truly appreciate your commitment to the Miami Springs Community.  I also want to thank the friends and family who also donated bringing the total for yours truly near $800.  Wow.  I’m so grateful to you guys for raising money for a great cause (and helping me bail out of jail.). Thank you so much!

Yanira Ross reported to “jail” at the Miami Springs Woman’s Club at the same time I did.  But she didn’t have to stay for long.  Ross, who runs the Ross Wellness Center in Miami Springs was able to supersede the $500 bail requirement with a total of $760 donated.  Way to go Yanira!
