The City of Miami Springs Police Department issued a statement announcing the arrest of Miami Springs resident, 37 year-old Adrian Cotera, on child porn possession charges.
Here’s the statement by Miami Springs Police:
“Last Friday night, the Miami Springs Police Department received a cyber tip linking an IP address to the download of child pornography. Our Detective Bureau swiftly acted, leading them to a residence in Miami Springs connected to 37-year-old Adrian Cotera.
In the early morning hours of February 27, 2025, officers arrested Cotera—who had no prior criminal history—without incident. He now faces 20 first-degree felony counts of possession of child pornography. Cotera has confessed to the charges.
This investigation remains active and ongoing. We are committed to protecting our community and ensuring justice is served.”
We feel horrible for Cotera’s wife and their son. We’re assuming this is as much a shock to them as it has been to the whole community.
Back in August, we had reported on a fundraiser for Cotera’s wife who was fighting breast cancer.
Cotera was also a Miami Springs Little League coach where he was coaching his son’s team. Obviously, there will be a lot of parents concerned about this and should talk to their children. That said, it’s important to note that Cotera has NOT been charged with abuse on a child.
According to Miami-Dade Corrections, Cotera was charged with 20 counts of promoting sexual performance by a child. He was also charged with armed possession of a controlled substance.
