Betty Louise Dunn passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 9, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Born on May 14, 1934, in Mineola, N.Y., to Mildred “Scotti” Baker and Andries Kersten, Betty spent her formative years between New York City, Wisconsin, and Orlando before building her life in Miami.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lowell S. Dunn, with whom she shared an extraordinary partnership of love and dedication. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this April. Together, they built a legacy of achievement and impact through The Lowell Dunn Company, which served as the foundation for the many businesses they created. Betty played an integral role in their many ventures, contributing her intellect, determination, and unwavering support to their success.
Betty’s commitment to giving back was as remarkable as her business acumen. She was the founder of The Lowell S. and Betty L. Dunn Family Foundation, a philanthropic entity designed to create a multi-generational impact. Through this foundation, she championed countless causes helping a multitude of people, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the University of Miami Health System, and Baptist Health of South Florida, among many others. Her vision and generosity will continue to provide hope and support for generations to come.
On the evening of June 29, 2010, Betty made a profound commitment by accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. This decision brought her immense peace, and her faith was a cornerstone throughout the remainder of her life.
Above all, Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her unwavering commitment to her family was unparalleled, matched only by her affection for her cherished beagles, whom she lovingly regarded as part of her family. Beloved for her strength, loyalty, generosity, and wittiness, her legacy remains in all the lives she touched.
She is survived by her five children: Cynthia Dunn Clohessy, Greta Lynn Dunn Delgado (Jorge Delgado), Loretta “Susi” Dunn-Moorhead (Roy Moorhead), Lowell S. Dunn II (Joella Dunn), and Lizbeth Dunn Arencibia (Rene Arencibia); 14 grandchildren: Todd Harrison, Cristina Delgado, Georgina Herrman, Michael Clohessy, Heather Steiner, Natali Jerome, Stephanie “Molly” Arencibia, Lowell “Trae” Dunn III, Emily Weathersby, Lizbeth “Chelsea” Arencibia, Brianne Dunn, Christina Moorhead, Brenna Dunn, and Henry Rene Dunn Arencibia; and 10 great-grandchildren: Lily Clohessy, Michael Clohessy, Olivia Tolbert, Noah Wazni, Roman Wazni, Sofia Wazni, Maximiliano Wazni, Valentina Herrman, Katarina Herrman, and Ava Jerome.

Pisgah Baptist Church (1430 Dicks Creek Rd. Cleveland, GA 30528), which is located in Lumpkin County near Dahlonega.
