Earlier this week, members of the Miami Springs Boy Scouts Troop 334 along with dignitaries from the City of Miami Springs broke ground at Stafford Park to create the Officer Charles B. Stafford Memorial.

Newer residents to Miami Springs may not know that Officer Charles Stafford is the only Miami Springs Police Officer Killed in the Line of Duty. Stafford was tragically killed after a traffic stop in 1991.
Charles B. Stafford: The Only Miami Springs Police Officer Killed in the Line of Duty
The Memorial for Officer Stafford is part of a service project led by Miami Springs Boy Scout Danny Iglesias “whose dedication helped bring this memorial to fruition.”

Miami Springs Police Chief Matthew Castillo was joined by other Miami Springs Police Officers for the groundbreaking ceremony.

We want to thank Danny Iglesias for his dedication to this project along with the scout leaders, mentors, city council, police department, parks and rec, and the city administration for helping this young man memorialize a fallen hero from our community.
This is just another example about the caring and love inside the hearts of this community that makes Miami Springs so special.
God bless you all and thank you.
