NBC 6 is reporting of a Hialeah man arrested by the Miami Springs Police Department for allegedly defrauding an elderly Miami Springs resident.

According to NBC 6, 34 year old Carlos Cabrera was charged with “grand theft, exploitation of elderly, and engaging in contracting without a license.”

Back in 2023, Cabrera was allegedly contracted to do remodeling work for an elderly individual living in Miami Springs. According to the report, Cabrera allegedly did the demolition work, but never completed the remodeling even after being paid over $39,000.

As you might imagine, the victim was furious having paid for work that was never completed.  And then, they had to pay someone else to get the job done.

Folks, Miami is known for high levels of fraudulent work. It’s important to work with a licensed and insured contractor. It’s also helpful to get referrals and feedback from local neighbors who are more than happy to share their recommendations.
