In a deeply meaningful and celebratory homecoming, Miami Springs 6–12 Preparatory Academy officially welcomed back one of its most cherished leaders: Mr. Rafael A. Villalobos, the newly named Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS).
The visit marked a special moment of connection between the school district’s top leader and the local community. Superintendent Villalobos’ rich connection to our school and community began during his highly successful tenure as principal of Miami Springs Senior High School. His positive influence, dedication, and collaborative leadership continue to resonate deeply across the halls today.

Having previously served at the helm of Miami Springs Senior High, Superintendent Villalobos is intimately familiar with the unique strengths, history, and academic aspirations of the Golden Hawks family. Returning to the campus—now home to the modern Miami Springs 6-12 Preparatory Academy—offered a perfect opportunity to see firsthand how the school continues to innovate and excel.
During a formal assembly, the school faculty and administration honored Superintendent Villalobos, highlighting the incredible legacy he left behind and his continued commitment to student excellence.
